CS Executive Entrance Test (CSEET)

The CSEET is the entry-level examination for students who wish to pursue the Company Secretary course after completing Class 12. It introduces students to the basics of business communication, legal aptitude, economics, and current affairs.

Eligibility: Completed Class 12 from a recognized board. Graduates and postgraduates are exempt and can directly enroll in CS Executive.

Exam Attempts: Held four times a year (January, May, July, November).

Duration: Minimum 4-month study period post-registration.

Subjects (4 papers):

• Business Communication
• Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning
• Economic and Business Environment
• Current Affairs and Quantitative Aptitude

Exam Pattern:

• Computer-based test (120 minutes).
• 140 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) worth 200 marks.
• No negative marking.
• Passing Criteria: Minimum 40% per paper and 50% in aggregate.

CS Executive (Second Level)

CS Executive is the second level of the Company Secretary course. It builds upon foundational knowledge and introduces deeper insights into company law, securities law, tax laws, and management.

Eligibility:

Cleared CSEET or direct entry for graduates (Commerce ≥55%, Other streams ≥60%) or those who have passed CA/CMA Foundation.

Exam Attempts: Thrice yearly (January, May, September) starting 2025.

Structure: Two modules, each with 4 papers (total 800 marks; 70% subjective, 30% objective).

Module I:

• Jurisprudence, Interpretation & General Laws
• Company Law & Practice
• Setting up of Business, Industrial & Labour Laws
• Corporate Accounting and Financial Management

Module II:

• Capital Market & Securities Laws
• Economic, Commercial & Intellectual Property Laws
• Tax Laws & Practice
• Corporate Governance, Business Ethics & Sustainability
• Passing Criteria: 40% in each paper and 50% in aggregate per module.
• Exemptions: Scoring ≥60% in a paper grants exemption for up to 3 subsequent attempts.
• Training Trigger: After clearing both modules, candidates must complete a 21-month Executive Development Programme (EDP) and practical training.

CS Professional (Final Level)

The CS Professional is the final and most advanced stage of the Company Secretary course. It focuses on advanced knowledge in corporate governance, compliance, strategic management, and specialized laws, preparing students for leadership roles.

Eligibility: Cleared both CS Executive modules and completed required training.

Exam Attempts: Twice yearly (June, December).

Structure: Three modules, each with 3 papers (total 9 papers, 900 marks).

Module I:

• Corporate Funding & Listings
• Corporate Restructuring, Insolvency, Liquidation & Winding-up
• Multidisciplinary Case Studies

Module II:

• Compliance Management, Due Diligence & Corporate Fraud
• Secretarial Audit & Compliance Management
• Drafting, Pleadings & Appearances

Module III:

• Corporate Governance & Sustainability
• Strategic Management & Corporate Finance
• Elective Paper (Choose one from options like Banking, Insurance, or Intellectual Property Laws)
• Passing Criteria: 40% per paper and 50% aggregate per module.
• MCQ Component: 30 marks of MCQs per paper (except elective paper).
• Exemption Rule: Scoring ≥60% in any paper grants permanent exemption from that paper.

Training & Practical Requirements

• Executive Development Programme (EDP): 21-month mandatory training under a practicing Company Secretary or company after clearing CS Executive.
• Management Skills Orientation Programme (MSOP): 15-day training after clearing CS Professional.
• Other Training:

1. 30 days of specialized training (e.g., with ROC, Stock Exchange) post-Executive.
2. Corporate Leadership Development Programme (CLDP) before applying for ICSI membership.
